ARIN Registration Services Plan (RSP) Fee Schedule Change - Effective 1 January 2025

Posted: Thursday, 12 September 2024

Earlier this year, ARIN conducted a community consultation to gather input on a proposed method for structured adjustments to the ARIN Registration Services Plan (RSP) fee schedule. Like most organizations, ARIN experiences customary adjustments in operating expenses (such as staffing and contracted services) and must periodically adjust its fees to maintain a balanced alignment between operating costs and revenue.

The consultation presented two approaches for consideration: continuing with the current practice of significant adjustments as needed every few years on an irregular basis or adopting a proposal for a structured approach via an RSP fee schedule that incorporates an annual increase each year of no more than 5 percent (with each year’s amount subject to Board approval). The proposed structured approach offers a predictable and manageable change in fees that better aligns with the budget planning processes of many organizations within our community, compared to the existing practice of more significant increases occurring at irregular intervals.

While there was not a uniform consensus on moving to the annual structured approach, there was general support for the change. Based on the feedback received and in pursuit of a sustainable fiscal strategy, the ARIN Board of Trustees, at its 19 August 2024 meeting, approved the adoption of a revised Registration Services Plan fee schedule reflecting a structured approach to annual RSP fee adjustments. (It is important to note that this fee schedule change only applies to the RSP fees and does not affect the pricing of transactional fees.) Furthermore, and in conformance with the new RSP fee schedule, the Board of Trustees approved 5 percent as the increase for the RSP fees for 2025.

The new fee schedule is available at: 2025 Fee Schedule

The ARIN community should also be aware that at the same meeting, the ARIN Board of Trustees reaffirmed its commitment to align operating costs with operating revenues. In furtherance of this commitment, the ARIN Board adopted a long-term financial strategy for ARIN that includes tight operating cost targets for the organization through 2030.

We thank all community members who provided valuable feedback and helped guide this decision. If you have additional questions, please contact [email protected] or submit via Ask ARIN while logged in to your ARIN Online account.

Thank you for your ongoing support of ARIN!
