Do you have autonomy over your network? Having autonomy over your network means that your organization directly holds the rights for IPv4 and IPv6 address blocks and those addresses can be considered portable. Obtaining IP addresses directly from ARIN or through an approved transfer provides network autonomy and the ability to set your own routing security policies. The process of requesting IP addresses directly from ARIN is simple, and once obtained, your company will no longer be dependent on an Internet Service Provider (ISP) for its IP addresses. In this session, John Sweeting, the Chief Customer Officer of ARIN, will discuss the importance of network autonomy and the benefits of obtaining IP addresses directly from ARIN. He will also provide insights into the management of Internet number resources in ARIN’s service region, which includes the United States, Canada, and parts of the Caribbean.

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the latest IP revision, developed as a successor to IPv4. IPv6 provides a much larger address pool so that many more devices can be connected to the Internet. It also improves addressing and routing of network traffic.

Because the free pool of IPv4 addresses has been depleted, customers will want to request Ipv6 address space for new networks, and eventually transition their networks from Ipv4 to IPv6.

Are you ready to deploy IPv6, but you’re not sure where to begin? Whether you are an end user or an Internet Service Provider (ISP), ARIN can help you determine how much IPv6 address space is appropriate for your organization and tell you how to request space. You’ll also learn the basics of IPv6 and options for supporting IPv4 in your network.

Network administrators sometimes announce IP addresses that don’t belong to them, either by accident or on purpose. A wrongly announced IP address block can take an entire network offline. Furthermore, hackers can create false DNS records, which may trick users into visiting websites or downloading malicious software. What can you do to prevent these scenarios from happening? The answer is Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI), an opt-in service available from ARIN. First, John Curran, President and CEO of ARIN, will discuss all the information required to participate in ARIN’s RPKI service to strengthen your routing security. Then, the benefits of having your IP numbers covered by ARIN agreement — especially before the legacy rates expire at the end of 2023.
