The Internet2 Technology Exchange is the premier technical event in the global research and education community. It convenes technologists, scientists, engineers, architects, analysts, students, and anyone passionate about technology, innovation, and big challenging tasks for debate and discussion that enables timely conversations critical to ensuring that the community of technology leaders committed to supporting research and collaboration is aligned and moving forward together.
Internet2 hosts the 2022 Technology Exchange, back to convening in person, at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel 5-9 December 2022. At TechEX22, you’ll see familiar faces and meet new community members who have fresh insights to share. You’ll find exciting content in all five tracks – Advanced Networking, Cloud Technology, Identity and Access Management, Information Security, and Research Engagement – along with tutorials, workshops, and co-located events. Ultimately, you’ll be part of the conversation to ensure we’re all aligned and moving forward together – and it’s a conversation that’s just too good to put on hold.

The Internet runs on the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). When BGP was released, it was designed to be easy, but it was not very secure. The Internet Routing Registry (IRR) ecosystem allows resource holders to tell other operators where to go and find the correct destination. Over time BGP and the IRR have been updated by adding features to enhance routing security, but human error and malicious activity can still impact your resources and your business. The Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) offers another level of protection that allows you to make a cryptographic certifiable statement that confirms you are the rightful source for the resources allocated to you. Technology policy and regulatory decisions at the national level affect our campuses, our profession, and our personal lives. But too often it’s seen as an area in which we as individuals can have little impact. We’ll have a panel discussion on how, why, and where you can get involved, how you can work with others in the R&E community, and how you can make a change for good. You don’t have to have a background in public policy to make a difference!
