I have found Doug to have a thorough knowledge of technical and organizational issues. He has a very collaborative and common sense approach to leadership and resolving complex problems. I have known and worked with Doug for 20 years in many different capacities. I take great honor in saying, I have not worked with another leader who is as intelligent and skilled as Doug. I serve with him on a Supervisory Committee of a top 50 credit union and a leadership team for an international arts festival. Over the years, Doug has continually displayed his uncanny ability to understand complex topics and quickly synthesize this information in order to make decisions and help other team members. This along with Doug’s breadth of experience make him a very good fit for the ARIN Advisory Council. I whole heartedly offer my highest recommendation.

I support Doug’s nomination to the advisory council.I have known Doug for 8 years through volunteering at Visions Federal Credit Union. Doug is a strategic and analytic thinker who shows up prepared and asks relevant, meaningful questions. Doug is exactly the type of person you want on a committee like this. He is reliable and collegial, bringing an extensive knowledge base and diverse professional background. As Chair of Visions’ Supervisory Committee, Doug leads a team responsible for internal audit functions of a large organization. He works regularly with the board of directors, helping us to identify and understand areas of risk to the credit union. I’ve learned so much from Doug’s leadership and know he would be an excellent addition to the advisory council.

Doug and I have collaborated on a number of NYS local government IT initiatives during the past decade. He has been a great resource in presenting and helping me and others understand some of the NYS and national IT complexities as they relate to smaller, government agencies. With this in mind, Doug would make at outstanding candidate for this advisory position with ARIN. Doug is hard working, intelligent, responsive, and has the experience and credentials to assist in this role. As he served as a board member and then the Vice President of the NYS Local Government IT Directors, ARIN can be assured that Doug would be a great asset. I strongly support his application!

His IT knowledge, leadership skills, attention to detail, and critical determination are exceptional. I have been in the IT field longer than he has, and he can run circles around me effortlessly. He will understand the situation, determine the proper solution, and execute it correctly the first time. I think you would be hard pressed to find a more dedicated professional for the council.

I have known Gerry George for nearly thirty years. Our association within a context of ICT began with issues of local relevance within Saint Lucia, but have gone on to include discussions of regional and of international relevance. We have met at local ICT related meetings and workshops, on CIVIC (Caribbean ICT Virtual Community) virtually and at face-to-face meetings, at the CTU (Caribbean Telecommunications Union), at the CIGF (Caribbean Internet Governance Forum) on several occasions. We were both part of the group of stakeholders assembled to review the proposed model legislation of the HIPCAR project. I have admired his work on the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in Saint Lucia. He listens carefully but he also speaks, and what he says makes sense. He helps to raise the volume of the small and rather timid “Caribbean voice”. My concern has always been for the rights of civil society/end users; Gerry is a “techie”. Over our long association Gerry and I have not always agreed. In fact on occasion, we have found ourselves diametrically opposed on some issue. Yet I always trust Gerry; I trust him because he invariably listens. This attribute is rather rare and is the reason for my unequivocal support for his election to the ARIN Advisory Council. He has those qualities that facilitate reaching consensus, backed by extensive knowledge of and experience in the Caribbean region. Deirdre Williams, Castries, Saint Lucia 10th October 2022

Margaret Leon October 12, 2022 at 7:48 am I fully support Gerry George’s candidacy since through my interaction with him, I can see a ‘best fit’ for the Caribbean region on the ARIN Advisory Council. Personally, Mr. George has been known to me for approximately 10 years as an ardent, astute ICT professional and businessman. He is conscientious, very liberal, courteous, and receptive to sharing his knowledge. Mr. George can be called upon at a moment’s notice, ‘as I sometimes do’, to guide, discuss and impart knowledge on aspects of the ICT industry and its most recent developments, how this may impact the Caribbean, while advising on the most appropriate actions to take. I look forward to communicating with Mr. George from Barbados, as our conversations are always cordial, informative and a wealth of information on ICT and related best practices. Professionally, Mr. George continues to be active in ICT advocacy, related promotions and maintains his ICT activism within the Caribbean region, as-well-as within the ARIN, ICANN, CIGF and CaribNOG communities. I have no doubt that Mr. George will be a stellar representative on the ARIN Advisory Council when serving the entire American region and I wish him every success in his candidacy.

For the record, let it be known that Gerry George has my full and unfettered support to be elected to the ARIN Advisory Council. I have known Gerry George coming on fifteen years now. He is a stalwart among the small band of technologists domiciled in the Caribbean that is vested in both the business of ICTs in general, the intersection of public policy and regulations and their contextualization in the ICT4D framework. Gerry is passionate about the role ICTs can play in regional economic and social development and is a serial volunteer to causes intending to progress our common understanding of that role. He has always been available as sounding board and adviser to me in multiple professional roles I was thrust into across our region. Above all of this, I consider Gerry my brother and friend. He is fully qualified and is keen to serve. Carlton Anthony Samuels Kingston, Jamaica 12 October, 2022

With his experience in both service provider and enterprise environments he has seen both sides of the coin and its application globally. Kendrick Knowles Jr. I would highly recommend Kendrick for the Arin Advisory Board. Kendrick has served in many Sr. Information Technology positions in Nassau Bahamas with direct communication to the executive board. He has been instrumental in providing actionable advice on both IT and IT Security concerns. Kendrick has been responsible for providing routing designs and working with ARIN to ensure clients get preapproval for address space. (Working closely with both to deliver the right outcomes.) He not only has a deep understanding of networking (IP v4 and IP v6) but is a certified teacher for both CCNA and CCNP, helping build employment opportunities for the Bahamas. Kendrick is one of the most competent network professionals I have ever met. In 2019 Kendrick took on the bold challenge of working with ARIN to ensure that my Organization could peer with dual carriers and acquire provider independent address space. A first for a non-service provider in the country. Kendrick had the network designs coupled with the communication skills to ensure we made it through the pre-approval process. He will be an incredible asset to ARIN and for this reason I have no hesitations supporting his candidacy and recommend him for the advisory role he’s vying for.

There is no doubt that Kendrick has a deep understanding of digital networks both from a technical design standpoint and functionality. He has also repeatedly proven himself to be flexible when it comes to adding new features for our customers. I’m trying to figure out what to say about Gus… It’s easy to say he’s a wunderkind when it comes to this field. I’m sure the membership gets it. And I do as well. I could give him platitudes about how we interact. But that’s lacking in so many ways. He’s been so helpful to me as I migrated from that dreaded “Sales” role to a Sales Engineer. I can’t say enough about his help. All of you have gotten to know him over the years. You know who he is. People may look at his employer and take a second thought. But…. None of us should. He gets it. And he’s a type of person that cares about the greater good of the Internet. That’s the reason he needs to be more involved. Cause that’s the guy he is.

I am very pleased to provide my enthusiastic support of Naseem Bawa’s nomination. Naseem worked part-time in several capacities for the Law Society of British Columbia from 1999 to early 2004, during which time I was her overall supervisor as the Law Society’s Director of Education and Practice. In mid-2003, Naseem began a two year role as Director of the Practice Standards Program, which included - conducting and overseeing law practice investigations of lawyers under section 37 of the Legal Profession Act, - making recommendations to the Board on how to deal with problem lawyers, - acting as an expert governance advisor on compliance with the Legal Profession Act, - proposing related amendments to the Legal Profession Act. Naseem consistently demonstrated an outstanding ability to build productive relationships with Board members, lawyers under scrutiny, other departments, and staff generally. Naseem’s skills in listening, collaboration and advocating are second to none.

I’m very pleased to support Naseem Bawa’s nomination to the ARIN Board of Trustees. I have been fortunate to work closely with Naseem in my capacity as CEO of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of British Columbia (ANHBC), where Naseem played a key Board role for 6 years. The Association is one of the largest and oldest social service organizations operating in BC, with over 50 sites, 750 staff and a $33 million annual budget. In her work with the Association, Naseem was instrumental in her leadership of our Governance and By-laws Committee, renewing by-laws, guiding policy approaches, stewarding an organizational risk framework and stewarding a key decision making framework. Naseem was also a member of several other committees and initiatives in her time with ANHBC and at the organization’s request, continued her leadership of the Governance Committee well beyond her 6 year tenure. As a member of the Board, Naseem was extremely knowledgeable in Governance and helped to guide processes and decision making for our very complex, uniquely structured organization. She was always thoughtful and measured in her approach, while being clear and courageous in her communication, and we were grateful to her for her commitment and hard work. She would be an enormous asset to the Governance of any organization.

Please accept this recommendation as enthusiastic support Naseem Bawa’s nomination. I have had the opportunity to work with Naseem for several years when I served on the Board of Interaxon as both Observer and Director. During that time, she was General Counsel for the company as well as Secretary of the Board. Naseem is a fantastic business partner to the CEO and she was great at keeping the board aligned on strategic topics as well as in accordance with good governance. Naseem is also a strong leader and collaborator as she was able to establish strong relationships and communication channels with each of the board members and investors. I was especially impressed with Naseem as she helped the company navigate different options and situations as it relates to fundraising and she was always able to help secure the best terms for the company on qualified financing and she is a prolific negotiator. Last but not least, I rate Naseem as a wonderful human. In a addition to having long and accomplished career, she is kind, trustworthy, and rock solid. Any organisation would greatly benefit from her knowledge and capabilities.

I came to know Naseem when she and I were in a peer group, last year, as part of the Innovation Governance Program (iGP) training organized by the Canadian Council of Innovators on board and governance challenges in high-growth sectors. She has spent her career as a fellow lawyer advising technology companies, negotiating from sticky situations, spotting risk, and working collaboratively to devise responsible ways to show it’s being addressed – a skill set I think, even with understandable personal bias, it’s important to see well-represented on a board. Naseem is practical, level-headed, matter-of-fact, and has packed a broad range of technology areas and geographies into her career. She will bring an expert outsider’s lens to ARIN’s activities that can only add to the diversity of perspectives that are around the table. Please consider supporting her in this election.

I’ve known Bill for 7 years through the ISP and DNS community in Canada, as well as in the ARIN sphere. Bill is principled, straightforward, and collaborative. He knows the industry and he knows his community. He brings many years of governance expertise to the table, as well as a political acumen you don’t often encounter in technical circles. I am writing to ask the ARIN membership to return Bill Sandiford to the Board of Trustees. From a governance perspective it is important to have this continuity as Bill has been supporting the Board since I stepped down last year and he is helping to guide the implementation of our last three year strategic plan. I support the NomCom’s designation of Well Qualified for Bill. I have worked with him in several roles over the last two decades where he has been a strong leader in the Internet Community. He was the founder of the Canadian Independant ISP trade association that he led for many years which successfully brought together several competitors and he was instrumental in shaping Canadian telecom policy. He has held leadership positions or Chaired several boards including TorIX, CNOC and CIRA. He has one of the sharpest strategic minds I have encountered and he is sensitive to all stakeholders when trying to find solutions to complex problems. For these reasons I urge the members to give Bill one of your votes.

RS (as everyone other than his lawyer calls him) is the longest-serving member of the Advisory Council and an indelible part of ARIN. From my first election onto the AC and to the current day, RS has been a dependable “coach” for me, and I’ve spent numerous hours with him getting a crash course in NRPM policy and invaluable insights on the development of particular policy language. He is a technologists’ technologist, always learning and questioning, and I believe would be an excellent addition to the Board Of Trustees. I fully support his election.

I have known Rob Seastrom (RS) since 1990, and we have worked side by side in many organizations many times in the past 3 decades. I know the man’s technical networking skills to be very difficult to even match. His ability to listen carefully to arguments on two sides of a debate I have seen first hand. He is amazingly fair, and reasonable, and further, is willing to take time to explain the pros and cons of each side’s arguments. I have seen him settle such discussions so that both sides decide on mutual ground without further worries. He is an outstanding candidate and will be a serious member of the board of directors.

As demonstrated in his work on the ARIN AC, he works for policies that meet the needs of the community, and due to his experience with organizations large and small he can see, and respect, many sides of any issue.
